1. Creating a tangible memory anchor for the concepts in Battle Your Pirates–And Win! The first book in the Gems of Wisdom Series on battling your internal pirates. At the end of each chapter, you’ll claim each gem as your pirate is defeated. The final chapter is the overflowing treasure chest (and why every necklace has the treasure chest charm) of all your gems of wisdom.
2. I could have chosen any company to commission this line of genuine gemstone jewelry, but Pamba Toto gives 50% of profits in support of two orphanages in Kenya. Rather than simply find any supplier, I found a way to enrich and empower these homes (Sanctuary of Hope #1 and #2) as they train and raise up the next generation to lead fruitful and fulfilling lives. These children then pour their education back into uplifting the Mathare Valley area. The value was an eternal opportunity to care for orphans.
3. Fair Trade internationally makes a difference in the families and communities of Third World people. I’ve chosen to use Fair Trade silver, gems and beads whenever and wherever possible. But that’s not all! The jewelry pouches and purses I’ve commissioned through the Taraja Project created jobs for single mothers with AIDS in Kenya. The same area served by the Sanctuary of Hope homes. The fair trade opportunity dovetails with the support for the orphanages.
